DESCRIPTION OF INSTALLATION

The emotional fish installation is an interavtive video sculpture using
digital video montage, video trackiong and computer game character design techniques to create
a nocturnal androgynous fish creature projected on a specially designed screen in a public street.

BRIEF SYNOPSIS

The emotional fish is a mystical fragile androgynous creature living inside the wall. It
is a perpetual flux between man and woman, animal and human, spirit and flesh,
visible and invisible, alive and dead, fragile and threatening.
The mood of the creature is expressed through the movement of its body parts
inspired by butoh dance and contemporary dance choreographed by modern
dancer and choreographer Peter Jul Nilsen and filmed and edited by video Artist
Jacob Tekiela. It also has “fish voices” which is an interactive musical score
composed by Giuseppe De Bellis.

The emotional fish has it own life generated by autonomous behaviour and a
state machine defining its mood. It will address bypassing people by directing its
movements towards their position. If a person stops and moves closer – the
emotional fish will reveal more of its nature to her from its repertoire of
choreographed movements. The dialogue emerges if the participant responds
through body movement, which establishes communication on an emotional and
aesthetic level.?
